I want to share with you that “Eating breakfast” is linked to good health, yes you read it right, it’s not just important but it is beneficial. And you will be happy to know that eating breakfast has long term health benefits according to the research. Remember you are starting your day so you need energy, eating healthy breakfast provides essential nutrients to keep your energy levels up throughout the day.
What is the science behind the importance of eating breakfast?
As you know when you wake up the blood sugar that your body needs to make your brain and muscles work is low, breakfast helps replenish it. Breakfast breaks the overnight fasting period. Breakfast stimulates your metabolism, helping you burn calories throughout the day.
If you don’t eat this meal of the day you will feel zapped of energy and you will end up overeating later in the day and you might end up eating high-fat, high-sugar foods. I don’t think you want to do that. Please avoid doing that as it will affect your overall health. I know mornings are not that easy as you have to rush to work, some of you have to get kids ready and it is easy to let breakfast fall low in your priority list but skipping this meal is a MISTAKE, you need food in your body long before lunchtime and eating this meal can make a difference to your day.

You must be thinking your body can find enough energy to make it to the next meal but remember you still need to reload your vitamin and mineral levels to maintain health and state of energy. I would like to repeat myself that skipping breakfast is not a good idea however if you still chose to remember that the nutritional content of the next 2 meals which is lunch and dinner must be adequate to make up for the loss of the A.M meal.

As you must have read by now how I have listed all the benefits of eating A.M meal, now let’s take a look at how important it is for our children. Children who eat breakfast it helps them improve achievement, behavior and have better performance (memory and attention). We all know growing children require a lot of energy and eating this meal will help them to reach their daily goal of kcals. Don’t let your children skip breakfast as they may lack sufficient fiber, vitamins, and minerals. You want to set the right example in front of your kids by eating breakfast because if your children don’t eat adequate breakfast are more likely to make poor food choices for the rest of the day and in the long term. Research shows that children who skip breakfast are significantly heavier than those who eat breakfast.
